In May 1994, Jean-Christophe Klotz was one of the few French journalists present in Rwanda. He noted the involvement of France, the impotence of the UN and its silence in the face of the ongoing massacre.
For his third film on Rwanda, he sought to understand how the genocide was able to take place in near general indifference, with the complicity of certain capitals, including Paris.
"If I went back to Kigali, it was because I was convinced that 25 years later, the word could be untied and the truth could finally emerge. A truth that would no longer be subject to questioning or contradictory debate, but that would finally allow France to examine its conscience and to clearly and lucidly inscribe the history of the genocide of the Tutsis of Rwanda in our collective memory.
