Mohamed Siam a director, producer and director of photography. He received several international grants in support of his film projects. His films are selected in Karlovy Vary, NYFF, Hot Docs & IDFA.

Siam is a director, producer and a cinematographer who has received several international grants in support of his film projects, including from Sundance Institute, IDFA Bertha Fund, Screen Institute Beirut, Hot Docs Blue Ice Group Fund, OIF, Arab Fund for Arts & Culture and Catapult Film Fund. Prior to filmmaking he studied psychology, eventually undertaking a variety of roles in the Egyptian and international film industry, including as 1st Assistant Director on the Canal Plus feature documentary "The City Of The Dead" (IDFA 2009, Best Film at Documenta Madrid 2010) and Tamer Said's fiction "In the Last Days of the City" (World Cinema Fund, Global Film Initiative and Cinereach) - Winner of Caligari Film Preis in Berlinale 2016.

Siam's cinematography can be seen in "The Trials of The Spring" (dir. Gini Reticker, producer Abigail Disney - Fork Films) and "The Path" (dir. Senain Kheshgi) - both films coproduced with ITVS. He also acted as the Egyptian line producer for "Trials".

A Berlinale and Durban Talent Campus Alumnus, Siam's current documentary work-inprogress "Amal" won the AfriDocs Prize at Durban FilmMart and the Arab-German Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Foundation in 2015. At Berlinale Campus Editing Studio, he was tutored by renowned Danish editor Molly Marlene Stensgaard ("Dancer in the Dark", "Melancholia").

Mohamed Siam (Egypt) studied psychology before becoming a filmmaker. He has been awarded several international grants for his film projects, including support from the Sundance Institute, IDFA Bertha Fund, Screen Institute Beirut, and Hot Docs Blue Ice Group Fund. A Berlinale Talent Campus alumnus, he also attended a program for talented filmmakers in Durban. He worked as assistant director on the feature documentary The City of the Dead (2009) and on the drama In the Last Days of the City (2016). He demonstrated his lensing skills shooting the documentaries The Trials of the Spring (2015) and The Path (2015). Siam debuted as director with the fiction short A Leak (2011) and the documentary Whose Country? (2016), and he is now working on his third helming attempt, the documentary Amal, awarded last year as a work in progress by Durban FilmMart (AfriDocs Prize) and by the Robert Bosch Foundation (Arab-German Film Prize).
