North of Vanuatu, in the Banks Islands, there is a tradition called water music (the music of water). Originally, only women practice this discipline handed down from mother to daughter, especially during times of bath or laundry. From their bodies that dance and move in the water suddenly came a myriad of sounds, the sound of the waves on the reef rumble of thunder, to the song of a whale ..
In 2008, the meeting of the choreographer Richard Digoué Charles Bice and water Banks Islands musicians, led to a creation combining contemporary choreographic inspiration Kanak Nyian the Company, the expertise ancestral musical water musicians ni-Vanuatu.
Liumoros take place by the sea in New Caledonia and Vanuatu, with three dancers and four musicians, seven women in a magical world where the bodies roam on sounds that flow and captivate us.
