General Director and Board Chairman of the MOSFILM Cinema Concern
Karen Georgievich Shakhnazarov

The undisputed leader in the Russian film industry, Mosfilm is proud to have its brand on virtually all Russian motion picture, television and video products. With a production capacity of over 100 films a year, Mosfilm creates, releases and sells motion pictures, television series, and videos as a full-cycle film production business handling everything from the script to the ready film copy.

The majority of motion pictures on the market are created by the studios on Mosfilm premises, which are led by famous Russian cinematographers Vadim Abdrashytov, Valentin Chernykh, Georgy Danelia, Svetlana Druzhinina, Andrey Eshpai, Sergei Govorukhin, Sergei Kolosov, Vladimir Menshov, Vladimir Naumov, Gleb Panfilov, Sergei Soloviov, Alla Surikova etc.

Over the last nine years Mosfilm has been actively upgrading its production facilities and technical resources. Mosfilm put a colossal amount of effort into modernizing its pavilions and studios, equipping them with the latest hardware and filming equipment on par with the most demanding modern standards. The local Sound Studio and mixing studio have been fitted out with the latest digital equipment, making them the world's first studios to receive DolbyPremierStudio certificates from Dolby Laboratories in 2006.

Mosfilm uses state-of-the-art equipment for all types of motion picture and video editing work, telecopying and computer graphics.

The studio has unique museums of historical costumes, props and retro cars.

Mosfilm is the only studio to have preserved its motion picture fund, and invests heavily into an ongoing restoration of films from the studio's golden collection.

Mosfilm is a regular fixture at Russian film festivals in numerous countries. It hosts retrospective and new film screenings both in Russia and abroad.

With a staff of over 1,200, Mosfilm is an industry-forming enterprise in the Russian cinematograph.

After weathering the crisis of the 1990s, the studio not only preserved the cinematographic traditions and professions but also evolved into a highly profitable business, seeing a more than ten-fold increase in its earnings over the last eight years.

Today Mosfilm is synonymous with advanced technologies, nonstop film production, top-notch creative professionals, and rare collections that are the envy of many. All of these factors have earned the studio its rightful status as the flagship of the Russian film industry, making an unmatched contribution to the revival of the Russian cinematograph.
