Le Festival du film international du Caire connaît un succès grandissant depuis sa création en 1976. Outre les compétitions traditionnelles, les divers hommages et la projection de films diversifiés, de nombreux séminaires abordent des thèmes contemporains. Chaque année, un pays et son industrie cinématographique sont mis à l'honneur.

Parallel Programs: Critic's Days / Semaine de la Critique
* The Cairo International Film Critics Week (CIFCW) is an Independent parallel program organized by the Egyptian Film Critics Association (EFCA) member of The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) during the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) and supported by the festival.
* CIFCW aims to contribute the art and science of film (Fiction - Documentary - Animation) and encourage intercultural dialogue.
* The second edition of CIFCW will be held in Cairo from November 13 - 19, 2015 during the 37th Cairo International Film Festival (November 11 - 20, 2015).
* The CIFCW is an international competition for feature films (7 films), in addition to a film critic workshop and a film seminar.
* The board of the International Film Critic's Week will choose the jury of the international competition. The jury will be comprised of a president and two members, none of who will have any connections with the competition films.

Cairo International Film Critics Week 2015 Winners
* Shadi Abd El Salam Prize for best film goes to Director: Marcin Koszałka for his debut film "The Red Spider".
* Fathy Farag Prize for best artistic contribution goes to Director of Photography: Evangelia Kranioti for her film "Exotica, Erotica, etc.
* And finally Special Mention (Jury Award) for Directors: Petra Costa and Lea Glob for their film "Olmo & The Seagull"
