The Rainbow Disability actors are performing a short play in the middle of the market place in Port-Vila.
A place to have maximum exposure and to mingle among the people and tourists, hence making their presence and message much stronger and at the same time more common.

The Vanuatu Rainbow Disability Theatre started 2010 at Wan Smol Bag, and at that time Ruru was the only disabled person in the company. He had worked for over 18 years with able-bodied actors, going to islands in Vanuatu, islands in the Pacific and beyond.
"While working with able-bodied actors, I have had to face hardships through tours, for example going to places where it is remote and there are no sources of transport available, and having to walk from village to village to perform plays, or even sink in a boat and having to swim ashore, but apart from these problems I faced during those years, I have become stronger inside.
"Years passed and changes started to show in my health and I couldn't do many of the things I did in the past. At one time my leg was swollen and I couldn't walk for weeks, and till now I am wheelchair-bound, but still I get along and just love my job. I have done from day one until now. I was given the opportunity to coordinate this disability group starting with 13 actors, it grew to 17 and now has 22 people.
"Sometimes I have to face emotional breakdowns with group members, get cross with them, and fight for our rights and sometimes I even want to resign. Somehow, the group members would cheer me up, encourage me and make me happy again".
He said looking after 22 people with different disabilities is something totally new, which he has learnt about day by day inside Wan Smol Bag. He recalls that over the last three years, he has worked hard because he can't go to sleep without thinking of what to do the next day, or he must get everything done that day leaving himself a little gap to think of what to do tomorrow.
He said, "Not only would I face problems within the group, but also I would have to solve the group's problems every day, do budgets for tours, arrange tours, hold meetings, direct plays and many more other things.
"I would like to thank the Australian government for assisting us with finance and also the New Zealand government. Thank you for helping us, the people with disabilities, find a better way to tell our stories, reach remote areas and help us make a big difference in life."
