Ibrahim El Batout, founder of Ein Shams Films

In 2010, Ibrahim El Batout founded Ein Shams, a cinema production company, of which Hawi is its first official production. "Hawi" (2010) is the outcome of a unique cinematic experience to the industry in Egypt. El Batout recruited a team, whom the greater majority is new to the field, and he made sure to provide each with the appropriate training and development needed to make this into a successful independent production.

Ibrahim El Batout is considered one of Egypt's pioneers in the independent cinema field, bringing forth a new understanding to feature films. He has introduced what is now known as zero-budget films and has made many long and short documentary productions. His fame began with "Ithaki" in 2005, which is a feature film portraying his personal experience covering events of war in various cities in Europe, Russia and many other areas. He returned in 2008 to make his second feature film "Ein Shams", which caused much controversy when released in 2009, and took part in several Arab and international film festivals. His 3rd feature film, Hawi" (2010), won Best Arab Film Award ($100,000 USD), at Doha Tribeca Film Festival

About Ein Shams Films
Director and writer Ibrahim El Batout founded Ein Shams Films early 2010, to be an independent film production company that produces low budget quality films with a special focus on fresh and new talent. El Batout established the company after acclaimed success for his second directorial work Ein Shams in 2009. The film, Ein Shams, received regional and international recognition in several Arab and international film festivals.

The first production to be taken under by Ein Shams Films was Hawi,which premiered globally at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival recently and received the Best Arab Film award. The film also took part in the Rotterdam International Film Festival in Holland this January as well as the Iranian Fajr International Film Festival that was held between the 5th to the 15th of February 2011 in Tehran. Hawi is currently preparing for a world tour among several Arab and international film festivals as well.

تأسست في بداية 2010 على يد المخرج والمؤلف إبراهيم البطوط لإنتاج أفلام مصرية مستقلة بأقل التكاليف لكن بجودة سينمائية عالية واعتماد اً على مواهب سينمائية شابة وجديدة في جميع المجالات. يأتي هذا بعد نجاح تجربته الثانية كمخرج لفيلم عين شمس في 2009 والذي حصل على نجاح كبير عربياً وعالمياً في عدد كبير من المهرجانات السينمائية. باكورة إنتاج الشركة هو حاوي الذي عرض عالمياً للمرة الأولى ضمن مهرجان الدوحة ترايبكا السينمائي الدولي، وحصل هناك على الجائزة الكبرى للمهرجان كأفضل فيلم عربي، كما عرض الفيلم دولياً في في مهرجان روتردام السينمائي الدولي في يناير - كانون الثاني في هولندا إضافة إلى مهرجان فجر السينمائي الدولي والذي عقد من ٥ وحتى ١٥ من فبراير الماضي في طهران، ومن المتوقع أن يشارك حاوي في جولة حول عالم في عدد من المهرجانات السينمائية الدولية والعربية.
