Born in 1963 in Dakar, Khady Sylla has published several short stories and novels, including Le Jeu de la mer (1992). She made a short film entitled Les Bijoux (1997) and two documentaries, Colobane Express (2000) and Une fenêtre ouverte (2005); the latter won the Best First Film Prize at the International Documentary Festival in Marseille (FID). She was living in Dakar and died on the 8th of October 2013.
